It is possible for tenants to sub-lease their apartments for maximum six months at a time. A written notice must be given in advance to the Accommodation office about the sub-lease. The main tenant is responsible for any PAYMENTS and the CONDITION OF THE APARTMENT during the whole sub-lease. If you want to sub-lease your room in a shared apartment, you need your roommates permission. Because the main tenant is responsible for the apartment and the payments, it is best to make a written fixed-term contract with the sublettee. Ready-made models for contract forms can be found in the book stores. It is vitally important to notify the Accommodation office about the sub-lease, because without any notice from the main tenant no spare key will be given to the sub-tenant, if the key is lost. Student village tenants can sublet their apartments for a max. period of 6 months. Also longer periods are possible, but must be applied for and approved by the Tenants' Board (an application can be returned to the Accommodation office). pdf Notice of sub-lease
