There are different kinds of keys used in the Student village depending on the house you live in. Take good care of your keys and avoid making any marks on them. In the single room apartment houses ABCDE the so-called pierced card keys are in use. The keys of the post boxes are made of metal and they should be left in the apartment when you move out. Only the pierced card key should be returned to the Accommodation office. In the apartment houses FMNOPQRS there are two keys in use: a magnetic card key for main entrance and apartment doors and a metal key for the room door and the post box (house F: magnetic card for doors and metal key for post box). Both keys need to be returned to the Accommodation office when you move out. The magnetic card keys need to be renewed in every two years. Information about the renewal of keys will be given at about a month in advance in the notice boards of the houses and in the e-mail list of the Student village tenants. In the family apartment houses KL metal keys are in use. The same key works as a post box key. The keys need to be returned to the Accommodation office as you move out.
Tenants of the building ABCDEKL can get into the laundry rooms with a detached stripe card. Other tenants can use their apartments' key cards for the laundry rooms. Spare keys can be borrowed from the Accommodation office during office hours. The loan time for the key is max two weeks. Be prepared to bring an ID when you want to borrow the spare key. At other times the maintenance men of the JYY-Palvelut Oy take care of opening the doors. You can contact them in 014 60 7500 around the clock. There is a charge for the door opening: Monday - Friday 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. door opening fee 10 €, other times 20 €.
