There are three garbage and recycling points in the area of the Student Village: next to the D-, K- and O-buildings. The garbace must be sorted according to the orders of the Jyväskylä City:

Mixed waste: garbage that cannot be recycled or re-used

Organic waste: leftovers of food, plants, dirt

Glass: glass jars and bottles that cannot be recycled (most bottles can be returned to shops)

Metal: tin cans, non-recyclable metal waste

Paper: clean recycling paper (commercials, newspapers)

Carton: carton, cardboard, milk and juice cartons, pizza boxes, egg boxes, toilet paper roll cartons

Carton recycling point can be found in front of the buildings O and D (green and blue containers). Used batteries can be left at the collection point next to the garbage containers of D-building. Hazardous waste and waste not fitting into the containers must be delivered into suitable recycling points or to the waste treatment centre.

The furniture in the Student village should be returned to the furniture storage rooms when you move out. The maintenance men of JYY-Palvelut Ltd. will open the doors to the storages on weekdays between 16-19 hours when you call 014 - 60 7500. IT IS ABSOLUTELY FORBIDDEN TO LEAVE THE FURNITURE IN THE HALLWAYS!
